Light by Lax – The Smarter Way to Build with Wood

Authentic log-house aesthetics and performance, re-engineered for cost efficiency, scalability and global delivery. Patent pending structural solution.

A New Generation of Log Construction

Light by Lax (patent pending) is an advanced lightweight log system designed to deliver the visual and structural qualities of traditional log houses — at significantly lower cost and with superior logistics efficiency.

Originally developed for hot climates where massive logs proved too expensive and impractical, the system now serves both warm and cold regions worldwide. With optional cavity insulation, it performs equally well in demanding northern conditions.

We supply structural elements and complete house packages internationally — whether the project is architect-led or developed in collaboration with our own design team.

Designed for Developers, Builders and Partners

Engineered for Climate Performance

The ventilated cavity structure allows continuous airflow inside the wall assembly in hot climates, reducing heat transfer compared to massive log walls.

Unlike cross-laminated or vertically glued systems, our structure avoids vertical glue seams. Bonding occurs horizontally, preserving wood’s natural breathability and moisture regulation. This improves indoor air quality and minimizes cracking risks.

In colder climates, the cavity can be insulated — achieving more than double the thermal performance of solid log construction.

A Nordic Family Company with Global Vision

Based in Pudasjärvi, Northern Finland — a region known for its deep timber heritage — we combine Nordic craftsmanship with pragmatic engineering and commercial clarity.

Our goal is simple:
To make the quality and atmosphere of log-house living accessible to a broader global market.

“If the house fits in seamlessly with surrounding nature and looks as if it has always been part of the landscape, the design is a success. ”

Let’s Build Together

Optimized Manufacturing and Logistics

Production is streamlined by eliminating complex joinery and multi-stage lamination processes.

Transport efficiency is built into the system design. Elements are based on 4- and 8-meter standard lengths, maximizing container utilization. Cutting adjustments can be performed on site with standard tools.

Where a damaged solid log component often requires costly air freight replacement and project delays, our cost-efficient structure allows contractors to maintain buffer stock — reducing risk and downtime.

Logistics That Change the Economics

A traditional 120 m² solid log house typically requires approximately 3.5 shipping containers.

With Light by Lax, two comparable houses fit into a single container.

This dramatically reduces:

  • International project risk
  • Freight costs
  • Carbon footprint
  • Storage needs
